VR Shopping Experience

Project details

The VR Shopping Experience is a high-performance Spatial Commerce platform engineered to explore the frontier of controller-less retail interactions. The architecture focuses on the seamless orchestration of natural hand-tracking technology and photogrammetric asset streaming, allowing users to navigate high-fidelity digital inventories with intuitive, physical agency. Developed as a rapid R&D initiative, this project serves as a technical benchmark for Embedded Transactional Orchestration within a fully immersive spatial environment.

Key Systems Architecture

  • Natural Interaction Orchestration: Engineered a proprietary hand-tracking layer that translates skeletal finger data into real-time physics-based interactions, enabling users to "grasp" and "inspect" digital merchandise without the use of traditional controllers.
  • Photogrammetric Asset Visualization: Architected a high-fidelity rendering pipeline to display photogrammetry-scanned garments, ensuring visual parity with real-world products through optimized shader logic and high-resolution texture streaming.
  • Embedded Commerce Framework: Developed a secure, in-environment transactional system that bridges real-time spatial interactions with purchase confirmation logic, creating a frictionless "browse-to-buy" user journey.
  • Intuitive Spatial Navigation: Designed and implemented a non-linear navigation system for virtual retail spaces, utilizing gaze-based triggers and hand-gesture recognition to ensure smooth locomotion and reduce simulation sickness.

Technical Leadership & Ownership
As the Lead Systems Architect (Solo Developer), I spearheaded the full-stack technical delivery and interactive design for this retail prototype:

  • Rapid Prototyping & R&D: Directed a highly efficient 3-month lifecycle, taking the project from a conceptual "popup store" idea to a feature-complete immersive ecosystem.
  • User-Centric Systems Design: Orchestrated multiple iterations of the interaction flow, utilizing data-driven feedback to refine the latency and precision of hand-tracked manipulation.
  • Full-Stack Spatial Implementation: Managed 100% of the core codebase in Unity, integrating SteamVR skeletal tracking with custom retail logic and high-performance 3D rendering assets.
